Hannah’s Story

I first heard about Wolfie’s after seeing a video of Gill walking a group of paraplegic dogs on a beach. My wife and I adopted Hannah in April 2019 after losing our very loved rescue Labrador Dexter. We needed a friend for our shy and gentle younger Lab Fred, and Hannah fitted the bill perfectly.

She arrived from Bosnia early in 2019 after she had been hit by a car and lost her front right leg. Having served several tours in Bosnia myself, I understood how hard life was for strays in the country, and I also felt a certain connection as you can imagine.

Hannah was very shy, and initially very wary of men (including me), but we gave her plenty of time and space and she has blossomed into a wonderful, loving, happy confident girl, who with Fred has a group of Doggy and human friends in the local woods where we walk her. Despite missing a leg, she is a dedicated Squirrel chaser and is far faster than Fred with his four legs. When not chasing Squirrels or barking at the moon, she can be found with as much of her body as possible in contact with a radiator.
